The recent tragedy of the Malaysian Flt. 17 shoot down on July 17, 2014 over Ukraine illustrates a sad truth of our modern vulnerable lives. That is that we are at the mercy of our machines which we do not control but can be destroyed by others.
The passengers had no ability to save themselves or even demand that the Airline take a safer route from those who would do them harm.They were helpless and paid with their lives.
In small comfort, the heirs and loved ones of the passengers have remedies to hold responsible those who contributed to the crash. First the Airline who is required to transport their passengers with the highest degree of care and safety. They did not. Second, the government which sanctioned and supplied the individuals who shot the missile. Finally, the unknown entities who will be determined to have contributed to the crash by their actions or in-actions.
